The governor of the North West region, Adolphe Lele Lafrique has challenged youths of the NWR to be resilient and steadfast towards the challenges they face nowadays.
Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique was speaking Friday February 3,2022 as he chaired the launching ceremony of the 56th National Youth day at Upstation Bamenda under the theme "Youth and Voluntary Participation in the Major challenges of Cameroon". This launching comes ahead of February 11th celebrations that will be celebrated in the North West region.
The governor was closely accompanied by the Regional Delegate for Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Odilia Fri Mbanwie who is to oversee her first National Youth day celebrations since taking over the command baton last year 2021 and key stakeholders in the region concerned with the educational sector.
The launching ceremony of Youth day activities was celebrated in grand style as compared to the other years where the region suffered severe attacks in the educational sector thereby causing low turn out on such occasions.
According to the governor of the North West region, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, this year's celebration coincides with the ongoing tournament of the AFCON that is going on in the country. "I'm therefore appealing the youths of the North West region to continue mobilising themselves to support the National team as they have been doing for the Lion's to reach the finals and bring back the trophy"
Governor Lele Lafrique said the region has been given a special status which now have the office of the chairman of Regional Assembly, president of house of chiefs amongst others. These are new institutions that has to merge with government institutions to face the major challenges in the region while counting on the youth population to rally behind these institutions given by the special status to help bring back long lasting peace in the North West region of cameroon.
Speaking to the media at the launching ceremony, the governor said he is encouraging those who are still to go back to school in the North West to do so. He as well urged parents, stakeholders, teachers and the community to mobilise their children to be able to go back to school.
The 56th edition of the launching ceremony appears to carry bright colors as compared to previous years in the North West region thanks to the emblematic, young and talented Regional Delegate of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Odilia Fri Mbanwie. This is to indicate the love of youths for school's across the region thereby inviting those who are left behind to join them in the moving train in order to secure a brighter future.
